It's particularly perplexing how some people manage to survive in this world when they're living in such a peculiar version of it. Of course, you seem to encounter people like this all the time when you're working in retail or the service industry… I suppose it's a "monkeys with typewriters" type of situation; by sheer chance, if you meet enough people in a day, you're bound to bump into a few with unique understandings and perspectives of the world. Still, you'll continually be surprised by some of the things people come up with—and the things they choose to complain about. 

Having once worked in a bike shop in a former life, I can say for certain that we dealt with plenty of situations like this. You'd think more people would have a general understanding of bicycles than they actually seem to, being that they're ubiquitous in cultures worldwide and a relatively simple machine. Still, you'd end up with people complaining about the most mundane and inane things. One of the tamer ones that happened more than once was people complaining about their relatively new bike being defective and needing a "warranty" because there was something "wrong" with the tire. Sometimes, they'd calm down once you pointed out that there was a nail sticking out of their tire and that as long as they avoided any more nails, everything should be fine, but there were times when the attitude and insults persisted even after you'd repaired the tire for free.

People also seem to struggle with the "store within a store" concept or any situation where someone appears to be working but is actually a vendor or contractor who doesn't work for the store itself. They can logic to the point of "This person is doing a job" but fail to move past that and comprehend that that person isn't being paid to do the job that they want them to do.
